Things to do in Mirissa
we have wrote about mirissa in previous post and here we will add more about things to do while you in mirissa and some info about next towns.
Main Beach
of course main beach is your number one destination where everything they got, swimming,relaxing,sunset,hotels,guest house,restaurents and night life.it’s not that easy to find it as it’s laid along with the main road, further find mirissa fuel station (petrol shed) from either way and there you got beach in front of it. it’s hot during mid day even though nice breeze so don’t forget your sunny and sun cream.
most beach front hotels and restaurant offers you free sun beds and better have beer from them otherwise plenty open spots lay down.
Secret Beach – Hidden Beach
This is a great place for you to soak up the sun while reading a book alone or drinking a coconut. It’s a little hard to find but can be easily reached by searching on Google Maps.
COCONUT HILL
About 1.5 km from Mirissa beach you can reach coconut hill by taking the small road to the south just before the temple . You will have elegant background for your insta photo. It can be a bit difficult to get a empty background for your photo as somedays more local and foreign tourists there.so better to ahead there early morning before sunrise.
Doctor House Madiha
Madiha Polhena Beach has been a popular holiday destination since then for mostly locals but then Doctor House, an old bungalow turned to nice restaurant by Australians a few years ago and almost every aussy comes down south need to heading to doctor house. it’s tend to aussie life style but all are welcome to have their nice wood oven pizza and little food menu along with cold beer( crack a one) and wednesday and saturday they having night party you’d better to check that out those days.
SNORKELING/DIVING
Even if you are not an experienced swimmer, Mirissa Diving Station is ready to give you a great diving or snorkeling experience. Here you will have the opportunity to swim with a variety of fish, rockfish and turtles.
you will get all snorkeling and diving gears. just check out on the beach if you interest to chill with marine.
WHALE WATCHING
Mirissa is now known primarily as a blue whale paradise. it’s wonder and only one place that whales are inhabited here through out the year which has became a reason for more and more tourists to come each year.
it’s easy to book a seat through online or visit their office in mirissa.bitter truth is you have to wake up 5am and get ready to be at the harbour by 6am however when you get there early you might able to enjoy the beautiful view of the sunrise and the fishermen selling fish.
Tea and coffee will be served before the departure of the vessel and by 7am all set to depart for an unique experience.about half an hour breakfast is served with sandwiches,bun,cake and fruits.
clear day it’s not take hour to reach where dolphins pods enjoy with feeding and it’s will never get bored then ahead to blue whales the massive ocean living giants.you might lucky to see many more whale species and also turtles and flying fishes

DONDRA LIGHT HOUSE AND SHRINE
it’s 15km away from mirissa and worth to have a ride with a scooter covering light house,dondra temple & shrine which is few hundreds years old.dondra point is most southern tip of sri lanka.
